Your phone number

The line callers reach your AI on

The line callers reach your AI on.

What it does

You get a number. Anyone who dials it reaches your AI.

Most businesses do not give it out. Instead they forward their existing number to it, so customers keep dialling the number they already know and your own phone rings first. Only the calls nobody picks up reach the AI.

Your carrier calls this "forward when I do not answer". On most mobiles it is a short code you dial once.

What it does not do

  • It does not replace your number. Forwarding leaves your line exactly as it is.
  • It does not intercept calls you answer. Your phone rings first, every time. The AI only gets what would otherwise have gone to voicemail.
  • It does not change what your customers see. They dial the same number they always have.

Setting it up

Settings, then Your line. Pick whether yours is a mobile, a landline or an office system and follow the four steps shown.

If your provider is not obvious, the page has a button that hands the question to an AI along with what it needs to know.

The one thing that matters

Forward on no-answer, not always.

Forwarding everything sends your customers to the AI even when you were free to take the call. Forwarding on no-answer means the AI only picks up what you were going to miss, which is the whole point.

Common mistakes

Testing from the forwarded phone. Calling your own number from the handset that forwards it does not behave normally. Use a different phone.

Setting it up and never checking. Ring your number from another phone once, let it ring out, and make sure the AI answers.

Forgetting the off code. It is on the same page. Keep it somewhere.
